Malaysia will ban the importation of a raising agent - ammonium bicarbonate - from China after testing positive for high levels of melamine, from 33 to 508 parts per million. The maximum allowed is only 2.5 ppm.
The country will also recall 12 brands of Khong Guan biscuits, and six brands of Khian Guan biscuits, which may have utilized the tainted ingredient.
